The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Izmaylovo

Today I went to Izmaylovo, a district in the Moscow Region just across the Moscow Circular Road from me. I used to visit it a lot in summer when I was a child. As an adult, I also usually came here in summer, perhaps in early autumn. So today was the first time ever that I came here in winter.

My destination was this church of the Life-Giving Trinity. It was erected as a wooden church in 1694 and rebuilt in stone in 1730s. In the Soviet time it was closed (naturally!), and since 2000s it has reopened to the parish.

I went there because since September 2024 I have left Moscow for a day once a month, to travel to another Russian city or town. Recently I haven’t had an opportunity to go too far, so I chose to visit places I knew fairly well that were beyond Moscow’s border. And I so ended up in Izmaylovo.
