I’ve been in the Russian Orthodox church since 2018. It was an absolutely mature decision: not only to get baptised but also to try and live the Scripture as much as it is possible for a lay woman.
And it certainly is a blessing that for the second year running I am able to attend the reading of the Great Canon of Repentance by St Andrew of Crete. Here is a full English translation thereof.
The Lent is never about mere fasting. This is the time of introspection, when a faithful is looking straight into his or her heart, accepting one’s limitations and spiritual infirmities. Our walk of faith is never easy, so this is the time when we learn to trust and to follow God’s ways, not ours.
